BCCI Secretary Jay Shah is likely to hold telephonic conversation with PCB Chief Mohsin ahead of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 that has been plagued by uncertainty due to disagreements between both the parts, media reports said.
The main point of contention is India's refusal to play in Pakistan, while the PCB wants to host the event within its borders and has rejected the hybrid model proposed by the ICC.
The conversation may help India and Pakistan to reach a mutual agreeable solution, allowing the tournament to proceed without compromising the interests of both nations.
If a consensus isn't reached, India might push for the hybrid model, where matches involving India are played at a neutral venue, which could be a difficult pill for Pakistan to swallow.
Broadcasters are concerned about the exclusion of high-profile India-Pakistan matches, which generate significant revenue and viewership, and have threatened legal action against the ICC if these matches are removed from the schedule.
The ICC is working to address the issues before Jay Shah takes over as ICC Chairman on December 1, and stakeholders are pushing for a resolution to ensure the tournament takes place with mutual agreement.
The PCB has already appointed a Chief Operating Officer for the Champions Trophy, despite the uncertainty, indicating their commitment to hosting the event .
