"If I get the option between Pakistan and Australia, I'll pick Australia to coach," says Wasim Akram

Pakistan's veteran pacer Wasim Akram expressed his desire to become the head coach of the Australian cricket team if he would get an option to choose between Pakistan and Australia.

During a ‘This or That’ session with an Indian sports channel, Akram was asked the difficult question of choosing between his own country Pakistan, and his wife's, Shaniera Akram, homeland Australia to coach.

"Would you rather be Pakistan's head coach or Australia's head coach," the journalist asked.

In response, the Sultan of Swing, without wasting time, chose Australia.

"If I get the option, I'll pick up Australia. Not because of my wife. It's because there will be less pressure. I'll be able to do my job," Akram said.

In response to a query about his preference between the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Pakistan Super League (PSL), the legendary fast bowler emphasised that he had "worked with both leagues and both are significant in their own right, with no direct comparison". 

Regarding a choice between Babar Azam and Virat Kohli, Akram leaned towards Kohli, acknowledging Azam's promising trajectory but highlighting Kohli's historic contributions to the game, he remarked, “Virat Kohli has written his name with Golden letters in history.”
