Pakistan’s white-ball head coach, Mike Hesson, described the Indian team’s behavior during and after the match as “disappointing,” revealing that captain Salman Ali Agha skipped the post-match presentation in response.
Speaking at the press conference after the sixth Asia Cup match, Hesson said:
“We were ready to shake hands with the Indian players after the match. Obviously, we were prepared to do that at the end of the game. We were disappointed that our opposition didn’t. We went over there to shake hands, but they were already heading to the changing room. That was a disappointing way for the match to end. While we were not happy with our own performance, we were certainly willing to shake hands.”
Meanwhile, Pakistan team management has lodged a complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) match referee, detailing the behavior of the Indian captain and players.
At the conclusion of the Pakistan-India clash, when India sealed victory, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav, who remained unbeaten on 47 runs, and Shivam Dube, who was batting on 10 runs, walked off without shaking hands with the Pakistani team.
According to reports, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav immediately called the rest of his teammates back to the dressing room, while the Pakistan squad stayed on the field waiting.
Yadav had also avoided shaking hands with Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha earlier during the toss.
