The recently concluded Paris Olympics 2024 has brought more than just medals for Pakistan and India as it has also brought a heartwarming display of love and respect between the mothers of rival athletes Arshad Nadeem and Neeraj Chopra.

Arshad Nadeem, the Pakistani star javelin thrower, made history by winning the first-ever individual gold medal for the country.

The 27-year-old athlete also shattered the Olympic record with a spectacular 92.97-metre throw at the Summer Games.

His rival, Indian sportsman Neeraj Chopra, secured a silver medal with a throw of 89.45 meters.

Despite being on-ground rivals, the two athletes share a deep respect for each other, and their mothers have also joined in on the love.

Following Arshad's extraordinary feat, Neeraj Chopra's mother, Saroj Devi, heaped praise on the Pakistan athlete by calling him "like her son".

Similarly, Arshad's mother, Razia Parveen, also termed the Indian star her own son.

"He [Neeraj Chopra] is a friend and brother of my son Arshad Nadeem. Losing and winning are part of the game, and he is like my son too. In Shaa Allah, God will give him success too," she told Independent Urdu.

Netizens are now calling for a heartwarming meetup between the two mothers at the Wagah-Attari border on Independence Day, August 14.

Social media users said the gesture would be a beautiful display of unity and love between the two nations.
