No immediate breakthrough is expected on the fate of the Pakistan vs. India match in the T20 World Cup, a media report said on Monday, citing sources.

Talks involving the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board over Pakistan’s decision to boycott the T20 World Cup match against India concluded late last night.

While the discussions have ended, officials believe a major development could emerge within the next 24 hours.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is also likely to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today. During the meeting, Naqvi is expected to brief the prime minister on the outcome of the talks held so far and seek guidance on the future course of action.

Indian media have claimed that the ICC has given Pakistan a deadline until Monday, February 9, to make a final decision regarding the high-profile clash. However, the report said that no progress is expected today and that a decision on the Pakistan–India match is more likely to be taken on February 12.

It may be recalled that, acting on instructions from the federal government, the PCB had earlier decided to participate in the T20 World Cup but not play the match against India.
