Prior to hosting the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Champion Trophy 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has initiated renovating the cricket stadiums in Pakistan, including the National Bank and Qaddafi Stadium in Karachi and Lahore, respectively.
Despite stubborn behaviour from neighbourly country India against Pakistan’s right to host the ICC Champion Trophy, Pakistan is not ready to step back from its stance of not following the hybrid model of the Indian team.
The upgrade work of the National Bank Stadium Karachi is underway rapidly, and construction of the new building has advanced to the final stages.
According to the authorities, only finishing work remains in the completion of the modern building consisting of a steel structure.
The details of the upgrade were shared with Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi when he visited the National Bank Stadium Karachi late at night on Wednesday.
Following his visit to the entire stadium and newly constructed building along with the director of infrastructure PCB and manager of National Bank Stadium, the Chairperson was briefed by the representatives of the Frontier World Organization (FWO).
Appreciating the teamwork, the chairman stated for the first time in the history of the stadium, modern LED lights were being fixed with the pole for the light show.
Chairman PCB directed the concerned authorities to build enclosures in the new building and to bring the parking area closer to the stadium for the convenience of cricket fans and spectators and also instructed the installation of score screens at a height above the seats to prevent difficulties in watching the match.
Expressed satisfaction over the preparation of the ICC Champion Trophy and vowed hosting foreign and local cricket fans perfectly.
