Two children die, parents critically ill after eating leftover food in Lahore

Two children died while their parents remained in critical condition after the family consumed leftover food at their home in Lahore’s Harbanspura area, police said.

According to officials, Qadeer, his wife Asma and their two children ate curry that had been prepared the previous night. The family members later developed severe symptoms and were taken to a hospital, where the children died during treatment.

A crime scene unit and forensic experts visited the house and collected food samples and other evidence.

A team from the food department was also called to assist with the investigation.

Police said forensic experts suspected that the food may have been contaminated by a lizard, but the exact cause of the deaths had not been established.

Samples collected from the house will undergo further examination to determine the cause of the suspected poisoning.
