Pakistan claimed its fifth World Youth Scrabble Championship title in Sri Lanka, after Affan Salman secured victory in the game, showcasing the country's exceptional talent in the mind sport.
The championship featured 138 players from around the globe.
Pakistan is the first country to win the World Youth Scrabble Championship five times.
Affan Salman excelled in the competition, winning 19 out of 23 games through remarkable cognitive skills and strategic play.
The World English-Language Scrabble Players Association (WESPA) announced Affan's triumph on their Facebook page.
With an impressive 20-4 record and a +1793 spread, Affan showcased his superior abilities and clinched the championship.
India's Suyash Manchali also performed impressively, finishing second with a record of 17-7 and a spread of +2364.
Among the six Pakistani players who secured top-ten spots were Bilal Ashar and Ibrahim Mansoor, both with 16-8 records and finishing in 6th and 8th place, respectively.
Pakistani player Aehzam Ahmed secured the 10th spot with his exceptional performance.
This recent victory underscored the growing potential and popularity of Scrabble among the country’s youth.
