Pakistani cricketers will receive hefty payouts, including match fees and several other financial benefits, despite their disappointing early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024.
The financial package for the cricketers includes a substantial match fee of Rs1,674,336 and a daily allowance exceeding Rs550,000.
On top of their match winnings, the International Cricket Council (ICC) will distribute a bonus of $247,500, roughly Rs70 million, to be shared among the 15 players and their management, amounting to over Rs4.3 million each.
Babar XI will receive a collective bonus of $62,308, approximately Rs17.5 million, which translates to roughly Rs1.1 million per player for their two victories in the tournament.
PCB had revised central contracts for 2023-2024 on the demands of the players who secured a 3% share of board revenue from ICC earnings, resulting in a hefty increase in their monthly salaries.
The Category A cricketers now enjoy a monthly salary of Rs6.03 million, with significant raises implemented across all other categories as well
While further salary increases were expected for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 contracts, the PCB has signaled a possible shift in policy, casting doubt on the continuation of these wage hikes.
Pakistan's cricket team faced intense criticism following their disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup tournament. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was also censured for biased team selection.
