International Cricket Council's (ICC) attempts to convince the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to follow the hybrid model in the ICC Champion Trophy 2025 have failed so far, as the cricket body refused the offer of additional financial incentives.
As per sources, the PCB was not willing to host the event under a hybrid model, even though they were now being offered additional financial incentives to end the deadlock.
However, the ICC did not answer the letter sent by PCB, refusing India's demand.
The eight-team Champion Trophy is scheduled to be played in Pakistan between February 19 and March 9, but the recent development indicates ICC itself is on the sea over the controversy that sparked due to the neighbourly country’s statement.
However, the BCCI did not share any written statement with the ICC about their refusal.
Earlier, the ICC, on behalf of BCCI, stressed Pakistan for shifting India’s matches to Dubai but the PCB resisted all the attempts of India regarding the hybrid model and made it clear that it is ready to host the minus-India Champion Trophy.
According to Indian media, the situation will be clear soon after the virtual meeting of ICC board representatives, set to be held on November 26 (today).
