Former Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik has resigned from his role as Domestic Cricket Mentor, formally stepping down after submitting his resignation to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) two weeks ago.

Malik announced his decision in a post on social media platform X, stating that the choice was made after careful consideration of his personal and professional obligations. "This was not an easy choice," he wrote. "But I realised that juggling multiple responsibilities would prevent me from giving my best — both to Pakistan cricket and to my other priorities."

He added that he would continue to serve in his capacity until a new mentor is appointed, in accordance with his contractual obligations.

Malik expressed appreciation for PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, the executive team, Champions Events Director Wahab Riaz, and the coaching staff and players of Stallions, acknowledging their support and trust. "Working with some of Pakistan’s most talented cricketers has been an immensely fulfilling experience, one I will always cherish," he said.

A veteran all-rounder, Malik began his international career in 1999 and went on to represent Pakistan in 287 ODIs, scoring 7,534 runs and taking 158 wickets. He captained the national side between 2007 and 2009 and retired from one-day internationals after the 2019 World Cup
