South Africa secured their place in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-finals after defeating England by seven wickets in a crucial Group B match at the National Stadium, Karachi.

With this victory, the final four teams for the tournament have been confirmed.

England, opting to bat first, struggled against South Africa’s disciplined bowling attack and were dismissed for 179 runs in 38.2 overs.

Joe Root was the top scorer with 37 runs, while Jofra Archer (25), Ben Duckett (24), and Jos Buttler (21) made small contributions. Marco Jansen and Wiaan Mulder claimed three wickets each, while Keshav Maharaj took two.

In response, South Africa comfortably chased down the target in 29.1 overs, losing just three wickets.

Rassie van der Dussen led the charge with an unbeaten 72 off 66 balls, supported by Heinrich Klaasen’s 64 off 56 deliveries. Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid took one wicket each for England.

With this result, Afghanistan was eliminated from semi-final contention. South Africa topped Group B with five points, while Australia finished second with three points.

The final group match between India and Bangladesh in Dubai on Sunday will determine the semi-final fixtures based on net run rate.
