Pakistan’s prospects of advancing to the semi-finals of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup remain dependent on the result of Eng v NZ match as the Super Eights stage enters its final phase.

After two matches in Super Eights Group 2, Pakistan national cricket team sit third with one point, earned from a washed-out fixture against New Zealand national cricket team, and a defeat to England national cricket team.

England have already secured a semi-final berth with two wins from two matches and lead the group on four points.

Pakistan’s qualification scenarios are now tied to New Zealand’s remaining fixture against England after a victory against Sri Lanka with a big margin.

If New Zealand lose their upcoming match against England — Pakistan would need to defeat Sri Lanka with a big margin in their final group match to improve their run-rate and reach the knockout stage.

Currently, Pakistan’s NRR stands at -0.461, making the margin of victory in their final match potentially decisive.

However, if New Zealand win theirremaining fixture against England, Pakistan will be eliminated regardless of their own result.

Sri Lanka, placed at the bottom of the group after two losses.

With the Super Eights approaching conclusion, Pakistan’s semi-final hopes depend not only on their performance against Sri Lanka but also on outcomes in other group fixtures.
