A case has been registered against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, an ally of the BJP, in Patna, for forcibly removing the veil of a Muslim female doctor during a public event.

According to Indian media reports, Samia Rana, a leader of the Samajwadi Party in Lucknow, filed the case against Nitish Kumar.

Meanwhile, Amnesty International India stated that any action by a public official to forcibly remove a woman’s hijab or veil constitutes a serious attack on her dignity, identity, and personal freedom.

The organization emphasized that such actions not only violate fundamental rights of women but also foster an environment of fear and insecurity in society.

The incident occurred two days ago, prompting widespread condemnation from Indian political leaders, journalists, and human rights groups.

Human rights activist Deepika Pushkarnath described the incident as a severe case of sexual harassment, while former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti strongly condemned it, calling it an act of humiliation against women.
