BJP deletes post after sharing Gilgit-Baltistan highway as 'new India'

India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come under criticism after sharing a video of a highway in Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan to highlight India's development.

The video was posted on the BJP's official social media account with the caption: "This is the new India that not only dreams but also turns those dreams into reality."

However, social media users pointed out that the footage was not from India but from the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan.

The video was originally produced by Pakistani content creator Northern Vibes, whose Instagram account has more than 146,000 followers.

After the clip went viral, Northern Vibes shared a screenshot of the BJP's post on Instagram Stories, writing:

"Since when did the Baltistan Highway become part of India? These are my videos, and they have been used without permission."

Following widespread criticism from social media users, the BJP deleted the video from its account.
