A 20-year-old Pakistani citizen, Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, also known as Shahzeb Jadoon, has been deported from Canada to the United States, where he is accused of plotting a large-scale terrorist attack.

Khan is scheduled to appear in a US federal court today (Wednesday). According to the US Department of Justice, he allegedly planned an attack targeting a Jewish community center in Brooklyn, New York.

Authorities say Khan communicated with two undercover law enforcement officers during the planning stages of the plot. Prosecutors claim that at one point, he stated the attack, if successful, would be “the largest on American soil since 9/11.”

Khan was arrested in Canada in September 2024 after a criminal complaint was filed in the Southern District of New York. Officials allege he intended to carry out a mass shooting in the US on October 7, 2024, the first anniversary of Hamas’ attack on Israeli military in Gaza.

The intended location of the attack was not disclosed.
