Indian Congress party has filed a formal complaint against BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya and controversial anchor Arnab Goswami over the dissemination of fake news.
According to Indian media, the FIR was registered at the High Grounds Police Station based on a complaint by Shrikant Swaroop, head of the legal cell of the Indian Youth Congress.
Swaroop accused Malviya and Goswami of masterminding a “malicious and criminal campaign” involving the deliberate spread of false claims.
He cited a recent allegation made by the two, suggesting that the Istanbul Congress Center in Türkiye was functioning as an office of the Indian National Congress—a claim he termed fabricated and deceitful.
Swaroop emphasized that the act was carried out with the explicit intent to mislead the Indian public, tarnish the image of a major political party, incite public unrest, and undermine national security and democratic integrity.

He further noted the sensitive timing of the incident, occurring amid strained diplomatic relations between India and Türkiye, and described their actions as an “unprecedented assault” on India’s democratic foundations and public trust.
The Congress leader urged the Press Council of India, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, the CBI, and other relevant authorities to take immediate action on the complaint.
