In response to the ongoing demonstrations against anti-immigration raids, the Trump administration has imposed a curfew in Downtown Los Angeles for the second consecutive night.

Lisa Brown, Mayor of Spokane, stated that everyone must abide by the curfew; however, limited exemptions will be provided for media personnel, individuals commuting to and from work, and residents in emergency situations.

"The Spokane Police Department has declared an unlawful assembly due to the large crowd that has gathered. Repeated orders to disperse and warnings about the use of force have been given to the crowd with no effect," the department said in a statement posted on Facebook.

On Wednesday night in Downtown Los Angeles, police detained protesters before the 8 pm curfew came into effect. About an hour earlier, authorities had declared an unlawful assembly outside City Hall.

Following the announcement, CNN reported that officers used rubber bullets to disperse the crowd, while mounted police moved in to clear demonstrators.

Protests opposing the Trump administration's intensified deportation efforts have spread beyond California, as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents continue nationwide raids.

In response to the growing unrest, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth stated on Thursday that President Trump's directive to federalise the National Guard in California could be extended to other states if the demonstrations escalate.
