In a shocking incident, an enraged man killed his neighbor for repeatedly asking why he was not married yet.

Police said the two men had a heated argument during which the victim taunted his neighbor about being single.

According to the law enforcers, the incident took place in South Tapanuli district in North Sumatra, Indonesia.

The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Parlindungan Siregar, entered the house of a 60-year-old retired civil servant, Asgim Arianto, and began beating him with a piece of wood on July 29 around 8pm, the victim’s wife revealed to the police.

Assistant police commissioner Maria Marpaung said that the victim ran away after being attacked by the suspect but fell down after suffering a head injury.

Seriger kept beating him until their neighbours intervened. They took Arianto to a local community health center but he succumbed to injuries, Marpaung added.

Seriger was arrested immediately after the incident and confessed to planning the murder of his neighbour.

“He was determined to beat Mr Asgim to death because of the frequent taunts about his single status,” the high official said.

Police further revealed that the two neighbours did not have a cordial relationship. They also quarreled over their chickens going into each other's cages.

Previously, an Indonesian man allegedly killed his friend in Southeast Sulawesi province on July 24, after a heated argument over whether the chicken came first or the egg.

The suspect fatally stabbed his friend multiple times after a minor altercation.
