Erdogan condemns Indian missile attacks, reaffirms support for Pakistan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated his strong support for Pakistan in the wake of recent Indian missile strikes that heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations. He also expressed satisfaction over the ceasefire agreement, calling it a positive step toward regional peace.

Speaking during a cabinet meeting, President Erdogan emphasised that his government avoids interfering in regional conflicts and instead advocates for peace, dialogue, and stability.

Condemning the missile attacks on Pakistan and the recent terrorist incident in occupied Kashmir, Erdogan offered Turkey’s willingness to play a mediating role in diffusing regional tensions.

The Turkish president lauded the resilience of the Pakistani nation and praised the country's leadership for showing restraint and maintaining a balanced approach, which he said played a crucial role in achieving de-escalation.

He also mentioned his recent phone call with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which they discussed broader regional issues and mutual interests.

Erdogan stressed that Pakistan should seize the opportunity presented by the reduction in hostilities and work towards resolving long-standing conflicts through dialogue and diplomacy.

President Erdogan reaffirmed Turkey’s unwavering support for Pakistan, stating that Turkey stands by Pakistan “in both good and bad times.”

In response, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif posted a message of gratitude to President Erdogan on X, saying,

“I was profoundly touched by my dear brother, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, for his strong expression of support and unwavering solidarity with Pakistan.

Pakistan is proud of its long-standing, time-tested, and abiding fraternal ties with Türkiye that have grown stronger with each new challenge. I am particularly grateful for His Excellency’s constructive role and concerted efforts in promoting peace in South Asia," PM Shehbaz added.
