Former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Arye Sharuz Shalicar received flak after he posted a misleading image of a knife on his social media account.
Shalicar took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share a picture of a knife, falsely claiming it was used by Palestinians to stab Israelis in the West Bank.
However, social media users quickly identified that the image was taken from Etsy online shop.
In contrast to the claim made by the former Israeli armyman, almost 17 people were killed in air strikes launched by Tel Aviv on a school sheltering displaced Palestinians in Gaza City.
The situation in Palestine remains dire as Israel has intensified its criminal offensives in Gaza.
The Gaza crisis has claimed over 39,000 lives and left more than 89,727 wounded, according to Palestinian authorities.
On July 31, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in a missile attack on his residence in Tehran along with one of his bodyguards.
In its first official statement after the high-profile killing, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Haniyeh was killed by “a short-range projectile".
"[...] was killed by a short-range projectile with a warhead of about 7kg [15.4lb] accompanied by a severe explosion from outside his room," the statement read.
The IRGC, in the statement, said that his assassination had been “planned and carried out by the Zionist regime” and supported by the “criminal government of the US”.
'Our response will be severe and at the appropriate time, place and manner.”
