China has expressed “serious concerns” over Israel’s latest plan to take control of Gaza City, calling on Tel Aviv to halt its “dangerous actions”.
"Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people and is an inseparable part of Palestinian territory,” AFP quoted a spokesperson for China’s foreign ministry as saying.
“The correct way to ease the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and secure the release of hostages is through an immediate ceasefire,” the spokesperson said.
“A full resolution of the Gaza conflict depends on a halt to the fighting, which is essential for de-escalation and regional security.”
The remarks came just hours after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced a new military plan, approved by the country’s security cabinet, to seize control of Gaza City.

According to a statement, the military will move to “take control of Gaza City” while continuing to provide humanitarian assistance in areas outside active combat zones. The government said the strategy is part of its broader objective to defeat Hamas in the enclave.
The war in Gaza, now nearing its second year, has caused massive destruction and displaced large portions of the territory’s more than two million residents.
Netanyahu’s government is under growing international pressure to agree to a ceasefire, as fears of widespread famine and a worsening humanitarian catastrophe continue to grow.
Beijing reaffirmed its willingness to work with the international community to help bring an end to the conflict. “China is prepared to play a constructive role in promoting peace and restoring stability in Gaza,” the foreign ministry said.
