'I love you, Dad...': Father misses flight after daughter's note invalidates passport

An Egyptian man was prevented from boarding a flight to Germany after airport authorities ruled his passport invalid because of a handwritten message left by his young daughter.

The traveller, who lives in Germany, said immigration officials stopped him after noticing writing on one of the passport's pages.

In a video shared on social media, he explained that his daughter had written, "I love you, Dad... We'll miss you," before his trip, unaware that writing inside an official passport could make it invalid.

Authorities treated the passport as damaged and refused to let him travel, forcing him to cancel his flight and delaying his return to Germany.

The father said the situation was made more difficult because his German residency permit was due to expire the following day, potentially creating further legal and administrative issues.
