Indian authorities in Maharashtra demolished a scrap shop after its Muslim owner was accused of chanting pro-Pakistan slogans during the Pakistan vs India Champions Trophy match at Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.

The action was taken on Monday after far-right leader Nilesh Rane, a leader of the Hindu extremist group Shiv Sena, lodged a complaint with the Malvan Municipal Corporation against the vendor. Rane later thanked the authorities for destroying the shop.

Rane, who is also an MLA from Sindhudurg, actively pursued actions against Muslim shop owners in the region.

A video circulating online allegedly shows the Muslim vendor chanting "Pakistan Zindabad" after Indian captain Rohit Sharma's dismissal. Indian media labeled the man as an illegal Bangladeshi migrant.

Following the incident, locals confronted the vendor, leading to a heated verbal exchange, clips of which also surfaced on social media.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Nilesh Rane expressed gratitude to municipal and police authorities for swiftly acting against the vendor.

"A Muslim migrant scrap metal trader in Malvan raised anti-India slogans after the India-Pakistan match yesterday. As a measure, we will expel this immigrant scoundrel from the district, but before that, we will immediately destroy his scrap metal business. Thank you to the Malvan Municipal Council administration and the police administration for taking immediate action," he wrote in a strongly worded post.

Local police arrested two individuals in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, Pakistan suffered a crushing defeat against India, with the Men in Blue securing victory by four wickets, knocking Pakistan out of the tournament.

It is worth noting that several Pakistani fans were seen cheering for India and admiring Virat Kohli during the match, yet none of them faced any consequences.

This contrast surprised many Indian cricket fans, who lamented that any similar show of support for a Pakistani player in India would likely result in arrest or harsh repercussions.
