Former Israeli ambassador to India, Daniel Carmon, has hinted that India might be providing military aid to Israel in its ongoing genocide in Gaza, as a gesture of gratitude for Tel Aviv's support during the 1999 Kargil War.

Carmon, who served as the Israeli envoy to New Delhi from 2014-2018, noted that Israel was one of the few countries that supported India during its 1999 Kargil War with Pakistan.

He stated that India has not forgotten Israel's support and may be "returning the favor" now.

"The Indians always remind us that Israel was there for them during the Kargil war... The Indians don't forget this and might now be returning the favour," he said in an interview with Ynetnews.

Earlier in February, reports emerged that India had provided 900 drones and artillery shells to Israel to support its war in Gaza.

However, New Delhi has neither confirmed nor denied these reports.

In a related incident, a cargo ship carrying military equipment from Chennai to Israel was blocked by Spain in May.

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, revealed on Tuesday that families in the Gaza Strip are being forced to drink dirty seawater for their daily needs.

Thousands of Palestinian children in Gaza have been diagnosed with malnutrition, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO) report published on June 12.

At least 37,626 people have been killed and 86,098 wounded in Israel’s one-sided war on Gaza since October 7.
