Lao Rongzhi: Infamous female robber, abductor, and serial killer executed in China

Chinese woman Lao Rongzhi, known for murder, robbery, and abduction, has been executed after China's Supreme People’s Court approved her death sentence. 

Between 1996 and 1999, the 48-year-old woman and her then-boyfriend Fa Ziying committed multiple crimes, resulting in seven deaths.

Lao, who worked in entertainment venues, targeted wealthy individuals. Seven people died as a result of these crimes.

Despite her arguments of being coerced at the age of 21, and she was also a victim, she was found guilty of robbing, murdering, and mutilating the body of a male victim. They further killed the victim's spouse and 2-year-old daughter as well. 

Fa, also sentenced to death, was captured in 1999. Lao was arrested in 2019 after more than two decades on the run. 

In 2021, the serial killer tearfully apologised during the trial, but the High Court upheld her death sentence in November.
