In an ongoing crackdown to uncover Israeli esp!onage networks, Iranian law enforcement detained two Afghan nationals accused of planning a bomb attack on the state broadcaster (IRIB) and spying on senior government officials on behalf of Israel’s Mossad agency.
According to Iranian authorities, the suspects confessed to their crimes in a video released by the government. The individuals admitted to providing sensitive data on key Iranian figures to Israeli intelligence, with the intent to facilitate targeted assassinations and attacks on critical infrastructure.
Investigations revealed that the suspects were reportedly transmitting classified information, relating to high-ranking Iranian officials via WhatsApp to Israeli agents based in Germany. Mossad paid them $2,000 for each task.
They were apprehended after Iranian authorities raided their hideout in western Tehran, as reported by Tasnim News Agency.
