Israelis declared the death of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh as "good riddance" after he was killed in a missile attack on a building during his stay in Iran on Wednesday.
Several Israeli social media accounts described Haniyeh’s death as retribution for the October 7 attacks on a music festival in southern Israel.
As calls for a ceasefire grew louder amid the relentless Israeli strikes on Gaza, leaving no area safe for Palestinian civilians, the assassination of the Hamas leader further diminished any chance of a halt to the military offensive in the Palestinian enclave.
Israeli and US officials have not yet issued statements in response to Haniyeh's killing.
“This is the right way to cleanse the world of this filth. No more imaginary peace or surrender agreements. No more mercy. The iron hand that strikes them is the one that will bring peace, offering some comfort and strengthening our ability to live in peace with those who truly desire it. Haniyeh’s death makes the world a little better,” Israeli Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu said.
On October 7, Hamas leader Haniyeh watched videos of Israelis being slaughtered in their homes and at a music festival then gave thanks to Allah.

Pro-Israel supporters mocked pro-Palestinian activists, Harvard University students, and US lawmaker Rashida Talib, saying that they mourn the death of a "terrorist."

Many celebrated the assassination as the first step toward the elimination of Hamas and the broader Palestinian resistance against Israeli occupation.
“The world is a better place now that Haniyeh is gone,” an Israeli author wrote on X.
The death of arch terrorist Haniyeh is a blow to the forces of evil on par with the deaths of Al-Baghdadi and Bin Laden. This is a man who planned and authorised hundreds of suicide bombings targeting buses and cafes, and helped turn Gaza into an enormous terrorist camp that…

Haniyeh’s body isn’t even cold and the international media is already trying to whitewash his legacy of terrorism, rape, destruction, and death. Enough with the “austere religious scholar” talk. This man was a brutal savage terrorist responsible for the deaths of thousands of men… pic.twitter.com/4ARNqUAq5N

Some Indian accounts also praised Mossad for its role in the killing of Ismail Haniyeh.
Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyah assassinated in Iran's capital. Justice delivered by Israel within 10 months of october massacre. We are still to find Dawood Ibrahim after 31 years of 1993 carnage. Only Vishwa Vijetas become Vishwaguru. Not some "Yuddh ka nahi Buddha ka desh".

My personal congratulations to all my Israeli friends on the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh at his residence in Tehran. Let’s not forget he’s worth about 4 billion USD, amassed through taxing essentials in Gaza & embezzlement of foreign aid. pic.twitter.com/gltcgvnM5U
