Modi congratulates Neeraj, praises mother’s statement on Arshad Nadeem's victory

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally reached out to Neeraj Chopra following the Indian athlete's loss to Pakistan's star Arshad Nadeem at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Neeraj grabbed silver medal in the men's javelin event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Prime Minister Modi took the time to congratulate Neeraj and also praised the remarks of his mother about Arshad Nadeem's victory.
PM Modi lauded this sentiment, calling it “a display of true sportsmanship” and emphasising the spirit of unity and camaraderie that transcends borders.

Indian star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra's mother, Saroj Devi, lauded Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem after the latter won a first-ever individual gold medal for the contry at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024.
Following the competition, Chopra's mother heaped praise on Nadeem by calling him "like her son".
“We are very happy. For us, silver is also equal to gold. The one who won the gold [Arshad Nadeem] is also like our son,” Devi said while talking to Indian news channel ANI.
