Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has postponed his trip to New York by a day due to escalating tensions on Israel's northern border, an official from his office confirmed to AFP.
The decision was made in response to the security situation, particularly in relation to clashes with Hezbollah, the Lebanese group. Netanyahu, who was initially set to depart on September 24, will now leave on September 25.
During his visit to the United States, Netanyahu is scheduled to address the annual United Nations General Assembly and will return to Israel on September 28.
The delay comes amid a period of heightened violence between Israel and Hezbollah, with recent Israeli military operations targeting Hezbollah positions in Beirut.
One such strike reportedly killed a high-ranking Hezbollah military leader, further intensifying the conflict.
The situation has worsened in recent days, raising concerns of a larger confrontation between Israel and Hezbollah, which has been engaging in cross-border clashes with Israeli forces.
