Famed Palestinian journalist Anas al-Sharif, who reported for Al Jazeera, was martyred along with four colleagues in an Israeli military strike on a tent in Gaza on Sunday evening.
According to Al Jazeera, the tent, set up outside Al-Shifa Hospital, mostly housed journalists. A total of seven people, including two Al Jazeera journalists and three camera operators, were killed in the attack.
Among the slain were 28-year-old Anas al-Sharif and fellow Al Jazeera journalist Mohammed Qreiqeh, as well as camera operators Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal, and Moamen Aliwa.
The Gaza government media office confirmed that the number of journalists killed by Israel since the start of the war in October 2023 has now reached 237.
The Israeli military admitted to targeting al-Sharif, claiming he was leading a Hamas cell and involved in planning rocket attacks on Israeli civilians and soldiers.

Anas had been associated with journalism before becoming a frontline reporter following the launch of Israel’s offensive on October 7, 2023.
He extensively covered events in northern Gaza, frequently posting on social media about threats to his life and the dangers of being targeted.
Despite these threats, he continued reporting from the ground, exposing Israeli atrocities to the world when communication networks were deliberately cut off by the occupying forces.
Shortly before his death, al-Sharif shared a post on X, stating that Israel had launched “concentrated bombardment. also known as fire belts” in various parts of Gaza.

In December 2023, Israel killed his father in a bombing of their family home in Jabalia. Despite enduring immense personal loss, trauma, and danger, Anas remained committed to highlighting the suffering of Palestinians under Israeli assault.
His killing sparked widespread outrage on social media, with users condemning the murder of yet another prominent Palestinian voice amid the ongoing genocide, as thousands continue to be killed with no international intervention to halt the violence.
Entire news crew wiped out: 2 journalists + 2 cameramen.

Killed by Israel which has killed more journalists than died in WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Afghanistan & Yugoslavia combined. https://t.co/qEJS6ON3YC
Israel murdered Palestinian journalist Anas al Sharif. I remember this video, with Anas exhausted bc of hunger and pain of witnessing almost two years of genocide, and the people telling him to keep going because he was their voice.

Israel just assassinated famed journalist Anas Al-Sharif, one of Gaza’s last reporters. This untouchable, serial-killer state will hunt every last Palestinian documenting its crimes https://t.co/OOvYRMwz5F

I remember that when George Bush bombed an Al Jazeera office in Iraq, killing reporter Tariq Ayoub, it was a huge scandal.

In Gaza, it’s been normalized. By Netanyahu. Aided and better by Biden, Trump, and western media. https://t.co/LJP4eywW55
The beloved Anas Al-Sharif has been murdered by the brutal occupation. We are out of words. We are beyond heartbroken. The longer we fail to stop this, the more humans will be murdered. pic.twitter.com/6TkV7AyIVq

The BBC, Sky News, LBC, Guardian, Times, Telegraph, Independent, Financial Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, CNN etc - every single Western mainstream media outlet has the blood of Anas al-Sharif on their hands.

Every single one.
He posted 45 minutes ago and now he’s dead.

Kinetic strike. Most likely keyed off his cell phone signal, which the IDF tracks.
To the “journalists” in the West who toe the line with the NYT editorial board. Any words for your colleague? pic.twitter.com/GG6OYp2wN5
After you, Anas, the news lost its meaning, and the world turned dark. You’ve become the news,a headline needing no words, an image never shown. This is how truth is silenced: by killing the voice that spoke it, and blinding the eye that saw it. pic.twitter.com/tSZGO1NlxH
