Pakistan's Senate on Monday unanimously approved a resolution condemning the killing of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in an Israeli attack in Iran.

The resolution, presented by PPP Senator Palwasha Khan’ was passed during a session chaired by Chairman Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.

The Senate expressed deep grief over Haniyeh's assassination and condemned the killing of Palestinians in Israeli attacks, as well as the violation of human rights in Gaza.

The resolution described Israel as an "international criminal and terrorist state".

The House called on the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and all Islamic countries, including Pakistan, to unite and stop Israel's "terrorist activities" in the coastal enclave.

The resolution also urged Islamic countries put pressure on Israel to lift the siege of Gaza to allow emergency aid to reach Palestinians.

The motion was passed with unanimous approval, highlighting Pakistan's strong stance against Israel's actions and its commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause.

On July 31, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in a missile attack on his residence in Tehran along with one of his bodyguards.

In its first official statement after the high-profile killing, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Haniyeh was killed by “a short-range projectile".

"[...] was killed by a short-range projectile with a warhead of about 7kg [15.4lb] accompanied by a severe explosion from outside his room," the statement read.

The IRGC, in the statement, said that his assassination had been “planned and carried out by the Zionist regime” and supported by the “criminal government of the US”.

'Our response will be severe and at the appropriate time, place and manner.”

The Gaza crisis has claimed over 39,000 lives and left more than 89,727 wounded since October 7, according to Palestinian authorities.
