Pakistani bus driver's son, Sadiq Khan, made the country proud on Saturday after he secured the mayorship of London for the record third time, according to unofficial results.

Sources said the Labour candidate clinched the victory after defeating the Conservative Susan Hall in the elections.

However, the final results will be announced by the authorities soon.

It's pertinent to mention here that Sadiq Khan was elected the Mayor of London for the first time in 2016 against Zac Goldsmith, brother of Jemima Goldsmith.

Sadiq Khan had also served as Labour parliamentarian from 2005 to 2016.

Khan is also the first Muslim to head a major Western capital for the third time.

The 53-year-old politician was born in Tooting, South London and earned a law degree from the University of London.

Sadiq Khan started politics as a councilor of Wandsworth London Borough Council.

As the mayor London, Khan introduced the Hopper scheme, in which passengers can change buses and trams as many times as they want in an hour.

Khan also initiated Ultra Low Emission Zone program to improve the air quality of London.
