Putin meets Iran FM in St Petersburg amid US tensions

Moscow: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Saint Petersburg.
According to a Russian news agency, President Putin said he had received a message from Iran’s Supreme Leader.
He also conveyed his best wishes for the Supreme Leader and asked Abbas Araghchi to pass them on.
Russian media reported that President Putin expressed hope that the Iranian people would overcome the current difficult period and that peace would be established.
He added that Russia would do whatever possible in the interests of Iran and countries in the region.
The Russian President further stated that Russia intends to continue its strategic relations with Iran.
During the meeting, Iran’s Foreign Minister said that Russia-Iran relations are based on a strategic partnership that will continue to strengthen.
According to the Russian news agency, Abbas Araghchi thanked Russia and President Putin for their support of Iran.
Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Minister had arrived in the northwestern Russian city of Saint Petersburg.
The visit is being seen as highly significant in the context of ongoing regional tensions, where diplomatic efforts are underway to reduce tensions between Iran and United States
