A Republican candidate for US Congress in Texas sparked outrage after burning a copy of the Holy Quran with a flamethrower while hurling insults at Islam and Muslims.
Valentina Gomez, an outspoken anti-Muslim activist, was filmed setting fire to the holy book while making inflammatory remarks.
In the video, she claimed that Muslims would “rape your daughters” and “behead your sons unless we stop Islam once and for all.” She went on to declare that “America is a Christian nation” and compared her act to “David killing Goliath.”
Gomez further labeled Muslims as terrorists, calling for American Muslims to be expelled “to any of the 57 Muslim nations.” She added that the “God of Israel” is the only God.

The video, which Gomez shared on Instagram while urging supporters to vote for her to “end Islam in Texas,” drew widespread condemnation. Many social media users called on authorities to take legal action against her for inciting hatred against Muslims.
This is not the first time Gomez has courted controversy for anti-Islam remarks. She previously disrupted a Muslim rally, delivering a hate-filled speech before organisers removed her from the stage.
Her latest act has triggered renewed demands for accountability, with critics urging authorities to address dangerous hate speech.
