Russia warns US against using tactical nuclear weapons on Iran

Russia has warned the United States against the possible use of tactical nuclear weapons on Iran, saying such an action would lead to catastrophic consequences.

Speaking to Russian state news agency TASS, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said there are growing reports suggesting that the US may be considering a nuclear strike on Iran’s underground uranium enrichment site at Fordow.

He emphasised that while the reports have not been confirmed, the Kremlin views the potential scenario as extremely dangerous and destabilising.

The statement came after Fox News reporter Jackie Heinrich claimed that Washington is not ruling out the use of tactical nuclear weapons to target Iranian nuclear infrastructure.

US President Donald Trump is reportedly considering bombing Iran’s nuclear enrichment facility at Fordo using a Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP), a precisely guided, 30,000-pound bunker-buster bomb, which is the largest conventional weapon in the US arsenal, according to The New York Times.
