RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has executed five Pakistani citizens on charges of murder and robbery, according to international media outlets reports.
The individuals were implicated in a crime where a security guard was killed during a robbery at a private company.
Authorities uncovered the incident during their investigation, leading to the arrest of the suspects. Following a trial in a Saudi Arabian court, the accused were sentenced to death pending confirmation of the charges. The Saudi Court of Appeal later affirmed the initial verdict, resulting in the execution of the convicted individuals.
Saudi Arabia carried out the executions in line with Shariah law, despite appeals from human rights organizations and concerns regarding the judicial process. Saudi officials stated that the men were found guilty of participating in a serious crime resulting in the loss of innocent lives. The incident occurred in the kingdom's eastern province, where the perpetrators were arrested and tried under the legal system.
Islamabad expressed regret over the executions, urging a review of the cases to ensure justice. The Pakistani Embassy in Riyadh provided legal assistance to the convicted individuals throughout the legal proceedings.
Nevertheless, the executions faced criticism from human rights groups, citing worries about the fairness and transparency of Saudi Arabia's judicial system.
