In response to escalating tensions with Iran, seven airlines have canceled their flights to Israel, according to Channel 12.
Affected airlines include Delta, United Airlines, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Air India.
This development follows an incident where a Lufthansa flight from Munich to Tel Aviv was diverted to Larnaca, Cyprus, early this morning. T
he flight then returned to Germany after the crew refused to continue to Israel.
Currently, approximately 70,000 passengers are at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport. Some are scrambling to catch the remaining flights amid fears of further cancellations, while others are seeking to cancel their trips out of concern they might face difficulties returning.
The cancellations coincide with heightened tensions following the assassination of Hezbollah military chief Fuad Shukr in Beirut and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, following a rocket attack by Hezbollah that killed 12 children in the Golan Heights on Saturday.
