The extremist Hindutva group Shivsena has opposed the participation of Bangladeshi cricketers in Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.

This development highlights the continuation of aggressive and discriminatory policies associated with Modi, now spilling over from political, defence, and diplomatic fronts into the sporting arena. Following Pakistan cricket, Bangladeshi cricket has now fallen victim to the biases of India’s extremist factions.

In Haryana, Shivsena chief Niraj Sethi announced that Bangladeshi players will not be allowed to play in IPL matches in India.

According to Sethi, the party has decided to prohibit Bangladeshi cricketers from participating in the league.

Continuing its opposition, Sethi also threatened further restrictions on Bangladeshi teams for upcoming matches.

Shivsena’s stance has drawn international attention, exposing the disturbing blend of politics and sport in India.

The Indian Premier League, already facing decline, has suffered further reputational damage due to the infusion of extremist Hindutva ideology.

The use of sport to propagate hate and political agendas has starkly revealed the extremist and divisive face of India on the global stage.
