Trump announces ceasefire again, calls on Iran and Israel to maintain peace
Following Iranian missile attacks that concluded early Tuesday morning, US President Donald Trump announced that a ceasefire is now in effect and urged both parties not to violate it.
Iranian media reported that a ceasefire between Tehran and Israel has come into effect, following a fresh salvo of Iranian missiles launched early Tuesday morning targeting southern Israel.
The strikes were in response to overnight Israeli attacks after Donald Trump declared 'peace' amid the ongoing violent conflict
Iran's state-run media reported the firing of five missiles at Israel, just hours after US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between Iran and Israel.
Simultaneously, Israeli media reported that sirens blared six times within an hour in the southern city of Beersheba, resulting in three casualties and at least nine injuries when a missile struck a building.
Following a US strike on Iran’s nuclear sites, Tehran retaliated by launching missiles at the Al Udeid US military base in Doha, the capital of Qatar. According to Trump, Iran had informed the US in advance, allowing American personnel to evacuate the base before the missiles struck.
After the attack, Trump declared that both Iran and Israel had agreed to a ceasefire. He praised Iran’s “pre-warning” as a sign of de-escalation and claimed peace had been restored.
According to the Associated Press, a senior White House official revealed that Trump had discussed the ceasefire with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prior to making the announcement.
The ceasefire was reportedly set to take effect at 4 am. However, Iranian strikes continued well beyond the deadline, casting serious doubt over the durability of the truce.
While Iranian media and Trump both claim a ceasefire is now in effect, Israel has yet to issue any official statement on the matter.
