Gentry Beach, head of the American investors' delegation currently visiting Pakistan and a close business partner of the Trump family, has suggested that Richard Grenell was misled by deepfake technology in his recent comments about Pakistan.
In a conversation with journalists, Beach stated that Grenell's previous views on Pakistan were based on his understanding of the country at the time but emphasized that Grenell's understanding has since improved.
Beach further claimed that Grenell had been shown deepfake AI presentations, which led to his earlier misconceptions about the political situation in Pakistan.
Gentry Beach, who is in Pakistan to explore investment opportunities, pointed to several sectors, including artificial intelligence, real estate, and mining, as areas where American investors are eager to invest.
He also stressed that the U.S. is looking to usher in a new era of relations with Pakistan under President Trump.
According to Beach, the longstanding relationship between the US and Pakistan requires a clearer understanding, particularly to address past misconceptions about the country.
He criticised the Biden administration’s approach to Pakistan over the last four years, calling it "inappropriate," and stated that the new U.S. administration is keen to invest billions of dollars in Pakistan, aligning with the current leadership there.
While in Pakistan, Beach clarified that his visit was not focused on the ongoing situation regarding former Prime Minister Imran Khan, but rather to affirm that the Trump administration respects Pakistan’s current political leadership.
Grenell, who had previously tweeted in support of Khan’s release, has now gained a better understanding of the situation in Pakistan, according to Beach.
Grenell, who was appointed by President Trump as a special envoy for presidential missions, has not commented directly on the claims made by Beach regarding the deepfake presentations.
