US President Donald Trump removed the Resolute Desk from the Oval Office for 'touch-up' a week after tech billionaire Elon Musk's son was seen picking his nose and wiping his fingers on the table.
Trump, who previously described himself as a 'germaphobe,' ordered the desk to be swapped out for the C&O Desk, which was used by George HW Bush during his presidency.
Notably, Musk's son became an internet sensation after joining his father and Trump in a question-and-answer session at the Oval Office.
X Musk, four, was spotted picking his nose and wiping it on the Resolute Desk, which was reportedly a cause of Trump's decision to remove the desk for refinishing.

The C&O desk, which was used by President HW Bush, was temporarily installed in the White House as the Resolute Desk was being refinished.
Originally crafted from the historic British ship HMS Resolute, the Resolute Desk was a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford Hayes in 1880. Since then, it has been a constant presence in the West Wing, serving as the workspace for nearly every U.S. president.
The Resolute Desk is one of six desks C&O, Theodore Roosevelt, Hoover, Johnson, and Wilson—that have been placed in the Oval Office since the room’s construction in 1909 as a symbol of the presidency.
In a recent statement, Trump revealed that the Resolute Desk needs to be refurbished and “temporarily” replaced.
“A President, after the election, gets a choice of one in seven desks,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The C&O stands for Chesapeake and Ohio Railway, originally built for the company’s owners, it was first placed in the Oval Office in 1975 before officially being donated by the GSX corporation to the White House in 1987.
The Resolute Desk, a historic fixture in the Oval Office, was used by nearly every US president, except for three notable exceptions, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Gerald Ford, as reported by the White House Historical Association.
Most recently, the Resolute Desk was used by Democratic former president Joe Biden, Obama, and Trump also used it during his first tenure.
