Trump says 'shooting' will resume if Iran fails to uphold ceasefire

Trump, the US president, stated on Wednesday that America's warships and military planes will stay in the vicinity of Iran, threatening that America will resume "shooting" if the Iranians fail to comply with the agreement that has been made between both parties.

"All US Ships, Aircraft, and Military Personnel, with additional Ammunition, Weaponry... will remain in place in, and around, Iran, until such time as the REAL AGREEMENT reached is fully complied with," Trump noted in a tweet posted via his Truth Social.

"In case it isn't complied with, which will not happen, 'The Shootin' starts,' and will start bigger and better than you have ever seen before," he continued.

On Wednesday, the Islamic Republic claimed that it would be "unreasonable" to continue the discussion towards reaching a peace agreement after America's Israeli ally bombed Lebanon with unprecedented force, causing deaths and injuries to many civilians.

The two countries seem very far apart on Iran's controversial nuclear program since Trump believes that Iran has agreed to cease enrichment while, according to the parliament's speaker of Iran, Mohammed Bager Qalibaf, they could continue enriching their uranium reserves due to a ceasefire agreement.

Iran and the US announced a two-week truce on Tuesday aimed at paving the way for a final agreement to end the war launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on Feb. 28, which has left many dead and wounded.

The announcement came less than two hours before the expiration of a deadline that Trump had repeatedly extended for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and accept an agreement or face “the destruction of an entire civilisation.”
