US President Donald Trump said on Monday that Iran requested a meeting, which he said would take place on Tuesday in Qatar.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the meeting would be held in Doha, the Gulf state’s capital.
His statement came despite earlier remarks from Iran’s foreign ministry denying reports that Iranian and American technical teams were due to meet this week.
Tehran said there were no plans for talks on the implementation of any agreement related to ending the Middle East war.
The conflicting statements have added uncertainty over whether fresh diplomatic talks between Washington and Tehran will take place.
