President Donald Trump has hailed the US strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites as a “spectacular military success” during a televised address from the White House Cross Hall on Saturday night.
“Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success," he said.
He declared, "Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated.”
Trump also issued a warning to Tehran, urging it to pursue peace or face further consequences.
“Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace. If they do not, future attacks will be far greater and a lot easier,” he said.
“This cannot continue. There will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran, far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days. Remember, there are many targets left.”
He added that the United States was prepared to strike again “with precision, speed, and skill,” and said such action could be taken “in a matter of minutes.”
Following his address, Trump doubled down on his warning via social media, promising overwhelming retaliation should Iran choose to respond with force.
