After the appointment of Akin Gurlek as the Minister of Justice of Turkey, extreme chaos erupted in the parliament.
The opposition political parties were against his appointment. For that reason, they staged protests within the assembly. Some members were even in physical altercations, exchanging kicks and punches.
The opposition lawmakers aimed to stop Akin Gurlek from being sworn in, citing the controversial nature of his appointment.
It is important to note that currently, Gurlek serves as the Chief Prosecutor and has overseen crackdowns against the opposition.
The government officials who defended President Erdogan argued that Gurlek has been performing his duties lawfully. Nevertheless, the opposition saw this appointment as being undemocratic.
