A team of students from Pennsylvania set a new Guinness World Record by successfully dropping an egg from a height of 83 feet without breaking it.

The team conducted their experiment on August 14 and awaited official recognition from Guinness World Records.

The students, known as the T/E Egg Drop Team from Tredyffrin-Easttown School District, designed a special device to protect the egg, which survived the 83 feet drop without even cracking.

They surpassed the previous record held by Ritesh N from India, who dropped an egg from a height of 54.13 feet in December 2023.

The record-breaking team included Conestoga High School seniors Matthew Ma, Charlie Gawthrop, and Jeffrey Wang, as well as Valley Forge Middle School student Breckin Shefflerwood and teacher Derrick Wood.

"It took weeks of gathering video evidence and paperwork, but it was absolutely worth it," Derrick Wood told the media.

He added, "Hopefully, this record will be like our egg — unbroken — for a long time!"

According to Guinness World Records, before their successful attempt, the team conducted several test drops using a drone at various heights.

The egg was carefully secured with foam and cardboard, while straws were attached to absorb the impact.

The key feature of their design was a parachute, crafted from a plastic bag and elastic string for the soft landing of the egg.
