In Karnataka's Belagavi, a woman faced a harrowing ordeal as she was forcibly pulled out of her residence, stripped naked, tethered to a pole, and physically assaulted by the girl’s family with whom her son eloped.
The victim's son had been in a relationship with the girl, prompting her family to rush to the boy's home upon the knowledge of their elopement.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured stringent action against the perpetrators, emphasizing the government's commitment to justice.
The Chief Minister, via a microblogging site, deemed the incident in Belagavi as inhumane, “A woman was stripped naked, tied to a pole and assaulted in Belgaum is extremely inhumane. This has made the whole society dizzy. Our government will not tolerate such heinous acts for any reason.”
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister G Parameshwara reacted to the incident, condemning the brutal assault.
The victim's son and the girl had eloped, leading to the girl's family assaulting the mother. As a response, seven individuals directly involved in the crime were arrested and would be presented in court soon.
Home Minister Parameshwara affirmed that action would be taken against the accused.
Notably, the victim, currently receiving treatment at a local hospital, was promptly rescued by the police upon learning of the incident.
