A 23-year-old British-born woman, Lucy Harrison, was shot dead in the United States after a reported argument with her father.
According to US media reports, the incident took place on 10 January in Prosper, Texas. Disturbing details emerged during subsequent court proceedings.
The court was told that Lucy and her father had engaged in a heated discussion about former US President Donald Trump on the morning of the incident.
Evidence presented during the hearing stated that Lucy had travelled from London to the US with her boyfriend, Sam Littler, to spend the holidays.
Her boyfriend told the court that the conversation between father and daughter escalated, during which Lucy asked her father how he would feel if she were a victim of sexual assault.
It was alleged that her father responded by saying he had two other daughters and therefore would not feel as distressed. Following the remark, Lucy reportedly became upset and went upstairs.
Approximately half an hour before they were due to leave for the airport, her father allegedly took Lucy to a downstairs bedroom to show her his Glock 9mm pistol.
Her boyfriend testified that moments later he heard a gunshot. When he entered the room, he found Lucy lying on the floor while her father was shouting in panic.
