The Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad has taken a decisive step to tackle the rat infestation in the two houses of parliament, sources said on Monday.

According to sources, the rats have been causing damage to various departments and offices in the National Assembly and Senate.

The CDA has allocated a budget of Rs1.2 million to hire hunting cats specifically trained to catch rats.

These feline predators will be deployed to combat the rodent problem.

In addition to cats, the CDA will also install special netted windows to catch rats and prevent them from entering the premises.

The decision to hire private sector services to catch rats has also been taken, ensuring a multi-pronged approach to eradicate the infestation.

The rat problem has been exacerbated by the sealing of ceilings in Parliament House, leading to widespread damage in lower and upper houses.

The rats have eaten confidential files present in the assemblies., sources said.

A spokesman for the National Assembly has confirmed that the CDA will take swift action to address the issue and eliminate the rat infestation.
